Nora da Neve, Gran Diamante award at the premios Vino y Mujer

The Albariño wine Nora da Neve obtains the highest award at the premios Vino y Mujer

Nora da Neve, the Albariño made by Bodegas Viña Nora (D. O. Rías Baixas), has been granted the Gran Diamante Award, the highest award of the Premios Vino y Mujer, which is given by Alamesa and Aula Abierta del Vino and which intends to highlight the role of women in this industry.

Wines from 4 countries have participated in the eighth edition of these awards, representing 48 European wine regions, and only four of them have been awarded with the highest recognition by a jury composed entirely of women that occupy an important place in the wine world, such as journalists, oenologists, academics of the Real Academia de Gastronomía or members of international tasting committees.

Nora da Neve is an Albariño made from centenary vineyards located in one of the most peculiar regions of the Denomination of Origin Rías Baixas due to its climate and soils: Condado do Tea. It undergoes a 6-month ageing period in barrels that provides it a very marked character and makes it one of the gems of this D.O. It has been acknowledged on several occasions by national and international wine critics. The 2010 vintage was ranked amongst the 3 best wines of Guía Peñín, a reference of wine reviews in Spain. On an international level, Stephen Tanzer awarded it 92 points, Wine Spectator 90 points and Wine Advocate -the magazine created by Robert Parker, which is also a wine reference worldwide- awarded it 91 points in its 2009 vintage.

Bodegas Viña Nora since its inception has committed to obtaining the best qualities out of the Albariño variety in Rías Baixas, where it also makes Val de Nora and Nora. These are another two wines made with 100% Albariño that present different expressions of the Galician variety par excellence.
